March  2nd                 GHOST HUNTERS AT NIGHT

Experience a spooky night at the Museum with the Sixth Sense Ghost Hunters team. The Museum is gaining a reputation for this most enjoyable nocturnal event.  “A most absorbing evening”, is the comment from one visitor.


March 24th                 THE BUS & COACH SHOW

Whether reliving the experience of a bygone age of bus and coach travel or see what modern coaching holidays have to offer.  The event will be of interest to everyone.  Heritage bus service operating on the day.


April 14th                      THE MECCANO & MODEL BUILDER EXHIBITION

A chance to admire the North West’s finest working model traction engines, locomotives, cranes, steam engines and even time-keeping clocks. PLUS a photographic display and film of the world’s only FULL SIZE Meccano-style bridge. Seeing is believing !


April 28th                   CLASSIC FORD MEETS  STEAM AT THE MUSEUM

Ford cars, buses, trucks and tractors of all ages reminding us of the diversity and longevity of this major company, which started manufacture in the UK in the early 1900s.  This event will bring back memories of the Ford Popular, Anglia or Escort, not to forget the Z Cars, Cortinas, Capris, Consuls, Sierras and Granadas.  You can even see brand new Fords.

Plus everything for the steam enthusiast all in one place!  Steam lawnmowers, steam lorries, steam traction engines, both full size and in model form will be on show and perhaps operating!


May 12th                   THE SPRING TRANSPORT SHOW

Cars, vans, and lorries of all shapes sizes and ages on display in two display areas giving plenty of opportunity to take  photographs and talk to their owners.  This is a real opportunity to take a look inside and out at these magnificent vehicles.


May 25th                  GHOST HUNTERS AT NIGHT

June 9th                  VINTAGE & CLASSIC MOTORCYCLE SHOW

Motorcycles from all over the North West gather at the Museum to display their fineries.  Every machine is a classic and has a story to tell.  Definitely an event for Dads and Lads.


June 15th                LEYLAND FESTIVAL

This Leyland community event starts with a parade through the town centre leading to Worden Park were a wide range of stalls and activities await visitors.


June 16th                THE AMERICAN ROAD SHOW

This is everything American – which means it is big and brash.  Expect to see huge trucks, glamorous outfits and hear some Western music. Make sure that you bring your camera for this very colourful day.


July 6th                  THE LEYLAND ROAD RUN*

Exploring the countryside and heritage of West Lancashire, this Road Run especially for Leyland vehicles will give everyone the opportunity to see and hear the vehicles in action.


July 7th                  LEYLAND SOCIETY GATHERING

This event attracts the finest Leyland vehicles, which will be shown in their home town.  The Museum is proud to welcome back the Leyland Society, whose members are “dedicated followers of Leyland”.    


July 13th & 14st     FAMILY FUN AT THE MUSEUM WEEKEND*

A weekend of fun and games for the whole family.  Come and join in the wide range of activities, listen to live music, and test your skills against the experts. There will also be a few surprises!


July 28th                VW ALL-COMERS DAY

These vehicles illustrate the pedigree that has established the worldwide reputationof VW.  Most people have a VW car story in their past, whether its owning the ubiquitous Beetle or hoping to see the world from within a VW Camper Van.


August 11th           CREAM OF CLASSIC CARS SHOW DAY*

The finest of vehicles in the very best of condition illustrate automotive design and engineering over the past 100 years. A show for Connoisseurs.


August 24th           GHOST HUNTERS AT NIGHT

September 15th       AUTUMN TRANSPORT SHOW

This is the last outdoor event of the Season and is a show of Contrasts.  Vehicles from the 1920s through to the 21st century will be on display. Come and learn what it is like to be a lorry driver on the road today and look inside a modern “Knight of the Road”.


October 20th         MODEL TRANSPORT EXHIBITION

Models of all shapes and sizes are displayed amongst full size vehicles inside the Museum.  As well as static displays, remote control models show their manoeuvrability and speed.  This is the event to give you ideas for Christmas presents or perhaps find dads and lads something to do during the long winter nights!
